Welcome messages

  • ” Dear Participants of the WDF European Youth Cup 2024! On behalf of the Latvian Sports Federations Council, I am honored to extend a warm welcome to all athletes, coaches, team managers, supporters and volunteers to the WDF European Youth Cup 2024. This year marks a significant milestone as it is the first time that the European Youth Cup is being hosted in the Baltic States. We are thrilled to have you here in Riga, Latvia, for this remarkable event.

The WDF European Youth Cup 2024 has attracted a record number of participants, with 26 countries represented in the boys’ competition and 25 in the girls’ competition. We are proud to welcome 154 athletes under the age of 18, accompanied by 62 team managers, making this a truly exceptional gathering of young sports talent.

With over 300 participants, supporters, and volunteers, the Latvian Darts Federation is ensuring that this event is not only a celebration of sport but also of camaraderie, cultural exchange, and the spirit of competition. Your dedication, hard work, and passion for your sport have brought you here, and we are excited to witness the skills and sportsmanship that you will display.

To the athletes, I wish you the best of luck. Compete with integrity, give your best effort, and enjoy every moment of this experience. To the coaches and team managers, thank you for your dedication and support in guiding these young athletes. To the supporters and volunteers, your enthusiasm and commitment are invaluable to the success of this event.

Let us come together to celebrate the values of sport: excellence, respect, and unity. Welcome to Riga, and let the WDF European Youth Cup 2024 be an unforgettable event for all. “

    – Einars Fogelis, President of the Latvian Sports Federation Council
  • To all the players playing in the WDF Europe Cup Youth, CONGRATULATIONS! You have all been selected for your country and no one will be able to take that achievement away from you!

Personally, I always like looking out for the youth results from around the world because some of these players are going to be the darting superstars of the future!

Whether you win or lose, I would like to wish every single player the very best of luck for the tournament – enjoy it, because not many people get to play a sport for their country!

    – Nick Rolls, WDF Secretary General
  • As WDF Youth Commissioner, it is my great pleasure to see all of you attending the Europe Cup Youth 2024 in Riga. Being very committed to Youth work for the last years, it´s with great pleasure to see so many young and talented players representing their countries. With a new record breaking number of 26 countries competing and nearly all with both boys and girls teams, this is the result of really good and hard work of the national federations on their youth programme. Without each and every one of you, this wouldn’t be possible!

Beyond the competition itself, I hope that the Europe Cup Youth 2024 will serve as a platform for building lasting friendships, fostering international connections, and creating memories that will stay with you for a lifetime. Let us embrace the spirit of fair play and respect, both on and off the dart board, as we come together to celebrate the sport that unites us all. I wish each and every one of you the best of luck in your matches and hope that you enjoy your time in Riga. Thank you all for being a part of this incredible event, see you at the venue!

    – WDF Youth Commissioner, Dietmar Schuhmann
